Food Packaging Design That Gets Products Picked Up
Great food packaging has to do more than look good. It has to attract attention, communicate quickly and give consumers a compelling reason to choose your product.
AD Creative is an award-winning food packaging design agency with more than 50 years of experience creating distinctive, commercially effective brands and packaging.
We work with ambitious start-ups, artisan producers, challenger brands and established food businesses—helping them transform good products into brands that get noticed, remembered and picked up.
Your Best Brand Story Is Already Inside the Product
We believe the strongest food brands begin with something real.
It could be the quality of your ingredients, the people behind the product, the way it is made, its provenance or the passion that goes into making every mouthful taste as good as possible.
These are not simply background details. They are what make your product different—and they can give consumers a genuine reason to choose it.
Our job is to uncover that truth and turn it into a clear, engaging visual and verbal identity.
From positioning and brand storytelling to packaging architecture, typography, colour, imagery and messaging, we bring every element together to create packaging that feels believable, distinctive and relevant.
Creative Thinking With Commercial Purpose
Successful food packaging is a careful balance between creativity and commercial understanding.
Your design needs to express the character of the product while working effectively in the real world. It has to compete in a busy retail environment, communicate the right information quickly and remain recognisable across different products, flavours and formats.
That is why our food packaging designers consider much more than the appearance of an individual pack.
We think about:
- Who will buy the product
- Where they will encounter it
- What competing brands are communicating
- What they need to understand first
- What will make the product memorable
- How the design will work across an entire range
- What will encourage someone to pick it up
Because attractive packaging is valuable—but attractive packaging that helps sell the product is considerably more powerful.
A Clear Route From Strategy to Shelf
Every project is different, so we never force clients through a rigid, one-size-fits-all process.
Some businesses come to us with an established identity that needs to evolve. Others need support with positioning, naming and strategy before the creative work begins. New products may require a complete brand and packaging system from the ground up.
Wherever you begin, we provide a clear and collaborative route forward.
Our process can include:
-
Discovery and understanding
Learning about your business, product, consumers, competitors and commercial ambitions. -
Brand strategy and positioning
Identifying what makes the product different and defining the most compelling reason for consumers to choose it. -
Creative exploration
Developing distinctive visual and verbal ideas that bring the brand proposition to life. -
Packaging design and range architecture
Creating a clear packaging system that works across individual products, variants and formats. -
Refinement and production
Perfecting the selected design and preparing it for successful commercial implementation.
The process is structured but flexible, giving you clarity, accountability and peace of mind at every stage.

Food Packaging Designed to Work Harder
A consumer may give a new product only a few seconds of attention.
In that short time, its packaging needs to establish the brand, explain the product, create appetite appeal and communicate why it deserves to be chosen.
Clear information hierarchy is therefore essential. Consumers should be able to recognise the brand, understand the product and distinguish between variants without having to work for the answer.
We create packaging that communicates confidently and naturally—without overwhelming the consumer or relying on empty claims.
The objective is simple: make your product easier to notice, understand, remember and choose.
Creating Brands With Room to Grow
Good packaging design should not restrict a business to the product it sells today.
A strong brand system creates a foundation for new flavours, formats, categories and retail opportunities. It allows individual products to develop their own personalities while remaining recognisably part of one brand family.
This becomes particularly important when a successful product grows into a larger range.
We therefore design with the future in mind—creating flexible packaging systems that can evolve alongside the commercial ambitions of the business.
Savvy Foods: Building an Award-Winning Food Brand
Savvy Foods was created by founder Jonathan Drury, whose passion was to make delicious organic snacks and spreads using naturally energising ingredients.
The range included organic carob-based snacks, sweet spreads and powders made with ingredients such as fruit and sesame seed butter. The products could be enjoyed as snacks or used in smoothies, baking and hot drinks.
Our role covered brand development and food packaging design across multiple products, pack formats and sizes.
The challenge was to communicate the distinctive qualities of the products while creating a coherent, recognisable range with enough flexibility to grow.
The resulting packaging helped Savvy Foods build a strong and engaging presence across retail and online channels, supported by industry recognition and awards.
